The Spring One of a Kind Show is fast approaching in just five weeks...ok so maybe that doesn't seem soon to you but it sure does for me, considering my obscenely lengthy to-do list.  While I've been exhibiting at the Christmas show since 2006, I haven't done in the Spring show for five years and I'm really looking forward to it.  I'm going to have lots of new products that I'm pretty darn excited about, like this telegram set, which is an all-occasion spin on my popular holiday telegram:

Holiday Biz Wrap Up

The Christmas card season is definitely a busy one for all of us at Flakes Paperie...and by us I mean me and the lovely friends I rope into helping me in varying degrees during the One of a Kind Show. Case in point, check out this booth - clearly that was not a one woman job (say hi to my suuuper helpful husband's head in the top right). 

I was really happy with the booth construction once again and was thrilled to receive an honourable mention for my overall booth design.  It's so much fun creating a cozy little space to highlight my products and to sit in...for 11 hours a day for 11 looong (but lovely) days. And while I'm still blathering on about the show, here are a few more shots of some of the 2011 holiday products...

To conclude, the months of November and December have exceeded my expectations so much so that I bit the bullet and signed on for the 2012 Spring One of a Kind Show, which I haven't done since 2007. Of course I can't even begin to think about that right now considering it's just a few days until Christmas and there are gifts to be wrapped and cookies to be baked/eaten!  In a closing moment of sentimentality, here is a photo of my lovely sister, one of my many generous helpers, and I at the show a few weeks ago.  Thanks to all my helpers and shoppers who stopped by the booth!

Pretty Pink Shower

A few weekends ago, I had the pleasure of throwing my dear friends Roisin and Rob a baby shower! As the colour palette may divulge, they are expecting a girl, which meant the decorations were oozing with pink and undeniably girly. 

For lunch we had sliders and Curried Chicken Naan Tacos and my sister made a fabulous citrus salad (recipe forthcoming). I went a little nutty with the desserts and made a four tier cake in shades of pink (inspired by this picture) with swiss meringue buttercream icing (amazing recipe). I also made up some cheesecake lollipops in white and milk chocolate - they were a definite hit. We kept the kiddies entertained/hyper with striped straws topped with pink and yellow cotton candy (to their Mom & Dad's horror no doubt)(clearly I'm not a parent yet).  

I potted some hens and chicks as a thank you for the guests and of course the happy couple was spoiled with lots of fabulous gifts (oh and seriously, how cute is that chair Roisin's been working on for the nursery). I had so much fun planning for the shower and it was a great day, despite the hideous temperature (brrr)! Cory and I can't wait for a month from now when this sweet little gal makes her debut!! 

A Banner Birthday

My good friend Johannah asked me to create invitations for her adorable son Eddie's first birthday.  You may recall Eddie's announcement cards - seriously, how has it been a year already?! [cue old lady sigh and "they grow up so fast" line] Given creative colour control (my dream) I chose shades of turquoise (of course) and soft brown ink, paired with a speckled kraft envelope.

Joh requested banners on the invite as she had sewn some up for the party and as you can see in her photos, they turned out beautifully!  I had to include a shot of the cake she made as well - really now, how adorable is that?! Eddie is one lucky lil' guy! 

Upcoming Wedding Show!

This coming weekend Flakes Paperie will have a booth at the Wedding Dreams Show in Kitchener.  The show is held Saturday and Sunday 10am to 5pm at Bingemans and is the largest show in the area. Print off this coupon to save $2 off admission. Stop by booth no.61 and say hi!
