Gold, Green and Tartan

StagSaveDateDetail

I was definitely excited when Emily and Andrew told me about their wedding. Emily brought many keepsakes to the consult to communicate the idea (Andrew's family tartan, an old stag pin, vintage postcards).  I'd never done a save-the-date quite like this and I was immediately thrilled to get started on the design. Pops of gold ink as well as a shimmering gold envelope gave it a rich, sophisticated look while still maintaining a sense of nostalgia.  Can't wait to begin the invitation design this summer...

Save-the-date sneak peek

Unfortunately I don't have time to properly photograph the latest custom work I've completed this week, but here's a quick phone pic to show you a little sneak peek of two recent save-the-dates.  These babies were both so much fun to design and print!  I'll be sure to show you the details next week.

Savethedates

Until then, here's a tune to enjoy - have a super weekend!

Save-the-date, red wine style

Upon hearing Jen + Ryan would be getting married at a Niagara winery and that they wanted that to reflect in their save-the-date postcard, I was thrilled.  I love how the bottle of vino turned out and am looking forward to carrying theme throughout their invitations!  Hmm...all this talk of wine...is it Friday night yet?

Concert style, take two

MgDfull
Meaghan + Dallas loved the vintage concert poster style of Andrea + Travis' invite but preferred an invitation flat as opposed to a booklet.  I incorporated many of the same elements from my previous design, while refreshing it to match M+D's colour scheme and design aesthetic. The background pattern was screen printed in a pale shimmer silver ink with red and black on top.  The RSVP card featured a tear-off bookmark to remind guests of the wedding website and along with the invite, was packaged in a silver envelope.

M+D's Playbill Poster Invitation

MDinv1

As promised, here's Melissa + Darren's fabulous, if I do say so myself, wedding invitation! In keeping with the playbill concept, I formatted the invitation out of one long piece of teal paper, folded in two parts to fit inside the 6" x 9" envelope. The result was a screen-printed poster for each guest.  Seriously now, how fun is that?

MDinv2
To bring in their trademark wit, M+D each came up with a celebrity quote as praise for the 'production' (sadly no, Oprah and Sir Roger Moore won't actually be at the wedding). The third portion of the poster contained a map of the venue along with hotel information.  The RSVP postcard was attached on top through slotted corners.  In the same style as the save-the-date, the invite featured metallic gold ink along with shimmer envelopes - ooh fancy. This suite was tons of fun to create and I look forward to showing you the wedding day items, which I'm currently working on!

M+D's Playbill inspired save-the-dates

Our great friends, Melissa and Darren are getting married in less than a month. Not only are Cory and I both in the wedding party (woot!) but I've had the pleasure of creating their wedding stationery from start to finish. Beginning with the save-the-date card.

MDsavedate

Let me start by saying, this is one funny couple.  They are both passionate about theatre and comedy, having been a part of many productions themselves. Melissa's even dabbled in a bit of stand-up...a lot if you count any of her memorable performances at our house parties. And so, given M+D's mutual interests and combined hilarity, the concept of a witty spin on a vintage playbill came easily. The card, which poked fun at their lengthy engagement, was screen-printed on a dark blue stock with gold, off-white and turquoise ink.

The colour palette, theme and wit, were carried through the rest of their stationery. Check back tomorrow to see their actual invitations...which I am pretty darn excited to show you.

From beginning to end

CTsaveDate

It's gratifying to be a part of a couple's entire wedding stationery suite, as was the case with the lovely Christine + Ted. First, I created their save-the-date flats early in the year, next came their 3 page booklet invitation suite and finally, their day-of wedding stationery.

CTinviteCover
To convey the style of their wedding day, heather, hydrangea and craspedia became the focal point of the invitation design, coupled with a fun mix of fonts. We settled on a black cover, a flecked kraft paper invitation page and an off-white RSVP. The result was a sweet, colourful invite that I couldn't be happier with.

CTinviteFull

The same basic design elements were carried through C+T's programs, menus, table numbers, signage and seating chart, which I regrettably forgot to photograph (oops).  It was great to be a part of this fun, stylish wedding! Congrats to the happy couple who are most likely beaching it up in Hawaii right now...oh the jealousy...

A+K's program fans

Here are the program fans I screen-printed for Amanda + Katrina's recent wedding. They were inspired by these beauties I created last summer. Program fans are one of my favourite things to make.  They definitely spice up the standard program format and are especially wonderful for a warm summer wedding!

More squirrels and owls and foxes

ARthankYouCard
Alana and Rich's big day is soon approaching (you may recall their wedding invites) and their fabulous woodland theme is being carried throughout their day of stationery.  This includes screen-printed, monogrammed paper napkins, button cards (onto which they will attach their own fun pins), food station menus (I got hungry just typing them) and screen-printed thank you cards. Their wedding will no doubt be fantastic with their custom details and unique style!

Antique gold and swirly dos

The lovely Irene + Matt wanted a sophisticated invite with a minimal colour palette of gold, black and white. The resulting long narrow booklet invitation has just enough flash, thanks to the metallics, while remaining classy and timeless and of course, unique!

Gold Branches

Booklet invitations have been one of the most popular formats this wedding season.  Here is a recently screen-printed booklet...

AJcover
Amy + James will be having a mountain top ceremony at Blue Mountain (amazing right?!) and wanted to incorporate the gold manzanita branch centrepieces they will be having at their reception.  A simple colour palette of black, white and pale gold definitely helped to convey the elegance of their upcoming wedding!

A+J's Simple Suite

Ashleigh + Jason's wedding invitation suite is a great example of how nice a simple, clean design paired with a modern monogram can be. And oh how I love a good pop of yellow!

Turquoise, Teal and gold

I'm late in posting Katrina and Amanda's invitations as the shimmer gold ink has made it tricky to adequately photograph in a way that truly capture their awesomeness [unapologetically biased opinion].  And so these will have to do!

KAinvite
Amanda, who lives in Chicago, contacted me after hearing about Flakes Paperie online. I was instantly excited to work on their invites after she sent over a stylishly curated Pinterest board filled with wedding inspirations. This was my kind of colour scheme (um, hello turquoise and teal!). I designed the 'vintage glam' inspired pattern and screen-printed it in a metallic gold ink. We nixed the standard insert and instead went with a RSVP card that featured a tear-off bookmark (an option I adore).

KAfull
The invite was paired with a fancy antique gold envelope and a custom label. I'm currently screen-printing a matching program fan which uses the same fun mix of fonts - I will be sure to share it in the coming week!

Two squirrels a fox and an owl

ARintro

I was excited when Alana + Rich contacted me to do their wedding invitations, mostly due to their fantastic woodland theme. These are the things of this wedding invitation-maker's dreams; a fun, unique theme! Along with a variety of woodland creatures, I also illustrated a wood grain pattern (or 'faux bois' if you want to get fancy) to screen-print behind the layers of text.  A+R have lots of great ideas for their wedding day and I'm looking forward to working on some equally fun wedding day stationery!

Here are Aislynn + Kyle's black, white and pink invitations for their August wedding in Stratford. They opted for a booklet format with a detachable RSVP postcard. Check 'em out!
