Finally...

FlowerPot

...an indoor plant I haven't killed.  Trust me, this is worthy of celebration. Though our house has lots of windows and light, it seems it is lacking in ledges and counters on which a plant can sit and enjoy direct sunlight...and so we (ok, I) have laid many a plant to rest after a short, painful existence.  I'm happy to spare this sassy pink plant the ol' yard bag funeral.

On an entirely unrelated note, here's a sweet little tune I've been enjoying on this somewhat drab Monday afternoon...

Spring Show Countdown

CardStack
Let's be honest, it's hard to focus while working from home with this incredible weather!  All I want to do is sit on the deck with a good book and cool glass of wine or beer...or both (it's ok, it's after 5).  Buuuut instead this evening I will be churning out new cards in the sweatshop studio, which I must admit, is still pretty fun. Set-up for the Spring One of a Kind Show is just a week away and I have loads to do...like getting my middle-age man rock on as I print to Bruce Springsteen (I'm printing to his music, he's not actually in my studio while I print just to be clear).  I'm a serious Boss fan (it's genetic) and I'm loving this new song.  It would have been a good one to drink beer to on St. Patty's...if one wasn't in their studio furiously printing of course.

Save-the-date sneak peek

Unfortunately I don't have time to properly photograph the latest custom work I've completed this week, but here's a quick phone pic to show you a little sneak peek of two recent save-the-dates.  These babies were both so much fun to design and print!  I'll be sure to show you the details next week.

Savethedates

Until then, here's a tune to enjoy - have a super weekend!

Drawing and listening and reading

I find myself pretty tired this morning, perhaps on account of the dreary weather, however I'm enjoying the quiet illustrating time, while listening to this, a song that makes me feel a bit like I'm in a Sofia Coppola movie...(only it would be a really boring one)

I also finished a good book last night (perhaps the real reason I'm tired) called The Wife's Tale by Lori Lansens, a Canadian author whose previous books (Rush Home Road, The Girls) I really enjoyed.  If you are looking for a quick, sweet read check it out.

Tunes to print to: Gold

The latest Black Keys video has me pretty excited for our sweet seats at the concert in March, which was my über rad Christmas present for Cory....aaaand it happens to be on my birthday. Ooh wee, let the overpriced beers flow.

Incidentally, how do we feel about 'rad'?  In an attempt to expand my descriptive vocabulary, I gave it a try. Though the last time I used it was likely in such a phrase: "The new Colour Me Badd tape is totally rad". Perhaps it should stay locked away with other vocabulary gems I've since retired (see tubular). Thoughts?

Two tunes for Friday

Finally Friday is here! I plan on attacking some overdue house projects this weekend (groan) as well as getting some more printing done for the upcoming spring One of a Kind Show...and of course, I'm most looking forward to some quality vegging with Cory. I'll leave you with two songs that have been playing on repeat while I illustrate my latest card designs. Have a great weekend!

Don't let the naked man fool you, the build up is totally worth it...

Sounds from a one-woman sweatshop

That's right, the one woman sweatshop is in full swing! The One of a Kind Show (use the coupon below) is only 3 weeks away (AH) and I'm a screen-printing machine.

OOAK Coupon

Yup, my days are filled with printing and printing and printing and...well, you get the idea. This means, when I'm not listening to the cbc or streaming tv (very into The Big C right now) I've got tunes playing...because silence = tiredness and that is not good for the sweatshop. While Bedouin Soundclash is known to put me in a good mood, I also really enjoy Jay Malinowski's solo stuff...plus he was a year below me in my Fine Art program, so of course it's been predetermined that I will be a fan.

Aaand that concludes my morning break, back to printing I go!

One and the same

Wow, how is it Friday already? While I'm excited that it is indeed the weekend, the reality is that for the next 6 weeks, in preparation for the One of a Kind Show, there won't be much of a distinction between my weekdays and weekends.  Thankfully I love my job and am very excited about the upcoming holiday stationery season!  That's right, my wedding season is over and now my focus is all greeting cards, holiday cards and of course, the popular screen-printed calendar!

Enjoy your weekend and this peppy little number...

Back to the start

How awesome is this? Ok, yes it's a commercial, but a damn good one if you ask me.  And Willie Nelson covering Coldplay? I dig it.

colour to come

Wow, where has the week gone?  I've gotten busy with a few projects and am looking forward to catching up on the ever-growing to-be-photographed pile of custom work on my desk. I'll have lots to share next week, but in the meantime it looks like an afternoon of screen-printing and an evening of final planning for the bachelorette party me and a fabulous group of ladies are throwing for a dear friend on the weekend. Let the madness begin!

Until I'm able to share more colourful custom work, here's a colour explosion to satiate you.

Have a great weekend!

Two things

Two things I love, 1. LaBlogotèque Take Away shows (Cory and I could spend hours watching them) and 2. Paris. Sweet, sweet Paris...

i dig it

One of my favourite things is to see people dancing with abandon (evident in the fact that I once posted this). Straight up ridiculous dancing, irrespective of the company.  Which is party why I so enjoy the new RHCP video and Anthony Kiedis' enthusiasm. It's a wonder he didn't fall off the roof at 2 min 40.
